O Duro και η Blue, 2 σιβηρικά χάσκι, έγιναν οι πρώτοι σκύλοι που ολοκλήρωσαν τον Μαραθώνιο του Βόρειου Πόλου μαζί με τον χειριστή τους Marcus Fillinger.

Άξιο αναφοράς ότι 1ος στον συγκεκριμένο αγώνα τερμάτισε ο Έλληνας Αργύρης Παπαθανασόπουλος.

Αξιο αναφορας ειναι επισης οτι ειναι τρελοι αυτοι οι τυποι!

I loved every minute of every lap. The final three laps were the best, I was the last on the course, and I was out there by myself, and armed with a pistol for protection from polar bears.

After the marathon, Mr Fillinger dived at a Russian research hole with under-ice free dive champion Christian Redl, of Austria. Redl was to attempt a free dive to 80 metres but did 30 metres, with Mr Fillinger as dive companion and photographer.

Mr Fillinger reports breaking two ribs as he climbed out of the ice, and was treated at Longyearbyen Hospital in the north of Norway.

"It only hurts when I walk, lay down, cough, sneeze, laugh or breathe," he said.

Eίναι αλήθεια ότι πρέπει να είσαι λίγο "καμμένος" για να τα κάνεις αυτά.
Αυτή ήταν η 2η συμμετοχή του στον συγκεκριμένο αγώνα. Το 2015 ήταν η 1η, με 2 άλλα σκυλιά, τερμάτισε, αλλά χωρίς τους σκύλους.
Φέτος τα κατάφερε και με τα 2 σκυλιά, 42 χλμ, σε 9 ώρες και 50 λεπτά, στους -33 βαθμούς.
